SKU: HYMMA160 Categories: ,

The HYMMA-160 is a lightweight and incredibly versatile single phase ARC / MMA welder from Hyundai.

Lightweight and portable welder from Hyundai

Weighing only 6.0kg, the HYMMA-160 inverter welder is light and portable with adjustable harness and lightweight pressed steel case. The powder coated finish gives extra corrosion resistance and accessories include electrode holder, earth clamp, chipping hammer and wire brush making the HYMMA-160 an extremely good value MMA / ARC inverter welder.

Variable Control 160A Arc Welder

The Hyundai HYMMA-160 ARC welder features a stepless regulator for infinite variable control of the welding current with a low current facility for effective welding of thinner materials. The welding (output) current of the HYMMA-160 can be regulated within the range of 10-160 Ampere making the HYMMA-160 adjustable to suit welding different materials and thicknesses of steel.

Understanding Welder Duty Cycles

A good way of identifying the best welder for your needs is to compare ‘Duty Cycle’. Duty cycle is the amount of time, within a 10 minute period the welder can be used, on a given output. For example, our Hyundai 160A welder has a duty cycle of 50% when used on 120A output (this output would be used with a 3.2mm welding rod). This means it can be used for five minutes in every 10 minute period.

Duty cycles for Hyundai welders are shown below:

Model Output Amperage / Duty Cycle / Period of use within 10 minute period
MMA120 70A / 100% / 10minutes 90A / 50% / 6minutes 120A / 35% / 3.5minutes
MMA160 95A / 100% / 10minutes 120A / 50% / 6minutes 160A / 25% / 2.5minutes
MMA200P 155A / 100% / 10minutes 200A / 60% / 6minutes

TIG200 155A / 100% / 10minutes 200A / 60% / 6minutes

Mig180 105A / 100% / 10minutes 140A / 60% / 6minutes 180A / 35% / 3.5minutes
Welder duty cycles – what you need to know

Cheaper, lower quality welders claim to have a certain Amperage output, but can have a very low duty cycle on the output they have claimed. Always check the duty cycle to ensure you are getting the best welder for your requirements.

The Advantages Of A Hyundai Inverter Welder

The inverter technology used within the Hyundai welders has certain advantages compared to more traditional transformer welders. The inverter type welders are usually lighter, more cost effective and usually require less input power for a comparable output. This makes them more cost effective not only to purchase, but also to run.

A Versatile Inverter MMA / ARC Welder

Fitted with thermal overload protection to ensure maximum durability. Suitable for welding steel, stainless steel, copper, nickel, titanium and their alloys.

Suitable for fabricators, farmers, home mechanics, mobile technicians and DIY enthusiasts the HYMMA-160 is a good all rounder for welding with rods up to 4mm. The HYMMA-160 features high frequency starts allowing for smooth arc strikes.

With low service and maintenance requirements, the HYMMA-160 is incredibly easy to use and maintain, and has full Hyundai UK parts back up.

Know your welder

(MMA) Manual Metal Arc – Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA) or (MMAW) Manual Metal Arc Welding is flux shielded arc welding or informally as stick welding, is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode covered with a flux to lay the weld.

(TIG) Tungsten Inert Gas – Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG) or (GTAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld.

(MIG) Metal Inert Gas – Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG), (GMAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding or (MAG) Metal Active Gas is a welding process in which an electric arc forms between a consumable wire electrode and the workpiece metal(s), which heats the workpiece metal(s), causing them to melt and join.
